Best local seafood from Florida we had. I had the coconut shrimp with fries and coleslaw. My shrimp had this amazing pineapple based dipping sauce that was so flavorful. My husband had the #2 Grouper,Shrimp, & Scallops with potato salad and pasta salad. Our meals were hot, fresh & best we have had since we moved to Florida. Staff was nice and helpful. They gave us various sauces to try with our meal and explained how they were prepared. From cocktail sauce, tartar, to a special blend they do in house that taste good with everything. We ended up on first name basis by the time we finished. It's such a laid back place just walk in and hopefully find an open seat because it gets packed for lunch. I love this place and will be returning for more seafood soon.

This hidden gem is to date the BEST seafood house/market I have found in my 12 years in the Tampa Bay area! They have cozy tables both indoors and out, and we were invited to bring a bottle of wine next time! They have the best homemade fish spreads and a variety of "small-business" sauces and spices. Both the dining and the market side of The Fish Guy are worth the trip! I ended up taking home 6 haddock fillets (which were huge and delicious), 2lbs of incredible shrimp, cocktail and tartar sauce, and container of salmon-spread (all spreads come in GladWareTM). Can't WAIT to go back!

The nicest people I have ever encountered in the food industry. Seriously. A very casual environment with resort-style hospitality from the younger guys working there (only way I can perfectly compare it since I travel to a lot of hotels/resorts). They have always been happy to help, happy to be there, and super quick with refills. I always order the same thing: coconut shrimp, sweet potato fries, and pasta salad. They have some sort of magical fryer for the first two items. Always perfect. Yeah, sure, so the fries are frozen. Whatever. They taste better than I could ever make them. There are nostalgic and hard to find sodas which is always exciting and a great compliment to comfort food. We took home some of their homemade bisque and it was delicious. Got clams for a special occasion...also great. Went back quite a few times shortly after we first came here. It was that wonderful! But then we unfortunately realized that you cannot live on fried shrimp - which really IS unfortunate.

Running the biggest SCAM in the area. Nothing here is fresh. They told me they had fresh grouper, when I got here they handed me a frozen filet. The cooked products are all frozen, nothing is homemade, outside is a few boxes from seafood from Sam's Club. This place is a joke. Nothing is local, nothing is fresh it's all just a big SCAM! Why is it not illegal to lie about your product like this?

If you are on the West Coast of Florida this place is a must stop for lunch! Fresh & delicious seafood. Had the the buffalo shrimp, grouper sandwich and lobster bisque, 5 stars end of story!

I saw The Fish Guy had a couple of glowing 5-star reviews, and I knew I had to check this place out. I've passed it many a times, and it looks like a cool place. It has a Key Westy cottage look from the outside which was already appealing. The interior is more of the same with a mix of fisherman's wharf decor. It was cool. Its very casual. A combination of seafood market and eatery. I ordered the grouper sandwich with a side of pasta salad and fries. The fries and pasta salad were good. The grouper sandwich was okay. The batter overwhelmed the flavor of the fish in most of the bites. I was glad I tried it, but probably wouldn't order it again. This place seems to offer A Lot. I saw frozen Manhattan Clam Chowder, frozen Gumbo. They have a large variety of seafood offerings. Different sauces, seasonings, I even saw a gigantic The Fish Guy beer mug. I got a bit of a chuckle out of that... because I may buy one someday. I almost forgot to mention the friendliness of the staff. Very. This is a family owned place and it feels like it... in a good way. I've been to family places that are chaotic, but this place is laid back and the people were really nice. I've thought about this review most of today... no joke. The reason is this. The food was not five stars, and I wanted it to be. It was probably a 3, but the variety of seafood related products they offer is vast, and the people were really friendly. I'm going to go with four, and I will definitely be back to try some of their other items.

First off, let me say that the crab cakes here are very good. If you only want crab cakes, you will not be disappointed. The rest of this review, I will try to only state facts instead of opinion. 1st, the entire order (beside the crab cakes) I watched being pulled from the freezer. As this place is a fish market, I expected the seafood to be fresh. Now I know. 2nd, my fried grouper was NOT grouper. I worked through my first 3 years of college as a fisherman in Hernando Beach. I have caught every type of grouper there is in the Gulf. I have also caught my weight in flounder. This was flounder being upcharged as grouper. SHAME! I hope and pray it was a mix up in the kitchen, not intentionally ripping people off. 3rd, the marinara I was given as a dip for the frozen, pre-breaded calamari was poured directly from a plastic Ragu jar. Yes, the Ragu brand you can buy at Publix or Winn Dixie. I watched the kitchen staff pour it as I stood in the register area. The redeeming quality, again, was the crab cakes. Very good but not good enough to redeem the negatives.

We bought clams and grouper here. It was great. Then we ordered take out for lunch the next day. It was the best buffalo shrimp ever and the crab cakes were good too.

Loved the grilled grouper! I ordered the sandwich but left the bun and tarter sauced untouched as the fish was so deliciousness and perfectly grilled. One issue, our grilled selections took a long time to be served - but well worth the wait. Super friendly, helpful staff.

The Fish Guy is a very casual, relaxed and cool seafood-restaurant with a just as casual and cool interior. Service is excellent with, once again, cool and casual staff who seems to have a great team spirit. I ordered the grilled shrimp and scallops with sweet potato fries and coleslaw and the shrimp was absolutely excellent; some of the best I've ever had! Scallops were good, but not terrific. Sweet potato fries were flaky and well seasoned. Overall a really good experience; I had nothing to complain about at all!

I love this place! ! Not only is it the best place to buy fresh seafood, but they have a fantastic little Cafe! ! I have only eaten the crab cakes here because they are so good I never order anything else. Best thing is you can eat them here or buy them uncooked and cook them at home if you like! ! I have done both. Also, I love this guy! He is so friendly and funny and I enjoy my visit every time. The rest of the staff is great as well! ! Oh and did I mention they sell home made pierogis too!!?? Whenever I mention buying fresh seafood in New Port Richey, somebody mentions The Fish Guy, which is no surprise. This place is awesome. The only thing, they close at 7pm. 8pm on Sat. And 3pm Sun.

I love this place! It's adorable. Several little tables inside, scattered among various items for sale. My husband & I shared the soft shell crab sandwich & lobster roll with fries & cole slaw. The lobster roll was good, but not great.. The soft shell crab, fries, & cole slaw were all excellent. The owner was very friendly & personable. Very comfortable atmosphere. It took a while to get our food, but it was worth the wait. We will definitely be back!!

What can I say, it was so good, it made me write a review. Enough said! Oh, and get the crab cake sandwich, you won't be disappointed!

Lobster dip was very tasty served with sesame crackers. My wife had the holy shellfish that had clam strips, oysters, shrimp, and scallops with 2 sides and I am having the grouper Reuben which is amazing in itself. Outside seating is pleasant and relaxing. Good value for the money. Worth the stop.

What a big disappoint. The cafe was so thick of fried food with ventilation that my eyes burned. It took thirty five minutes to get my fresh grouper. The fish wad not fresh. It was chewy and fishy. Four bites into my fish I pulled out a piece of plastic that was about one inch long. The cook said the fish comes wrapped that way and that it would not kill me. He took off $2.00 off the bill. The owner did end up taking the entire entree off our check and apologize, but it's 7:00 in the evening. Now I have to reek of fried food for the rest of the night.

We really enjoyed our lunch here. Food was great and the service was very good. We also bought some Key West shrimp to take home for dinner. They were excellent too.
